Introduction to Mantrailing Workshop
Introduction to Mantrailing Workshop
Looking for a fun, rewarding activity you and your dog can enjoy together?
Mantrailing is a low-impact outdoor dog sport where your dog learns to follow a specific human scent trail using their incredible nose. It’s suitable for dogs of any age, breed, or experience level, and it’s a brilliant way to build confidence, provide enrichment, and let your dog do what they were born to do.
Whether you have a young dog who needs something productive to focus on, or an older dog who still loves getting out and using their brain, mantrailing is a fantastic activity that supports both mental and emotional wellbeing.
What to Expect on the Day
Dogs work one at a time, giving each dog the space they need to concentrate and enjoy the job. While other dogs are working, yours will be expected to rest and settle in the vehicle between turns.
During the workshop your dog will have three trails, giving you plenty of opportunity to learn, ask questions, and see your dog’s confidence grow with each run.
Workshops can last up to 3 hours, depending on the number of participants.
Venue & Terrain
This workshop takes place in woodland terrain, which means it can be wet, muddy, and uneven underfoot (especially after rain), so please come dressed for the outdoors with appropriate clothing and footwear.
⚠️ Please note: there are no toilet facilities available at the venue.
What You’ll Need to Bring
To make sure your dog gets the most out of their session, please bring:
- High value rewards (whatever your dog goes wild for!)
- Pocket-sized tubs or pots for treats
- Water for your dog
- A Y-shaped harness
- A 5–10 metre long line
Sensitive Dogs Welcome
Mantrailing is often an amazing sport for sensitive or reactive dogs, because dogs work individually and at a distance from others.
However, if your dog is worried around people or dogs, needs extra space, or has any special requirements, please get in touch before booking so we can make sure the workshop is the right fit and your dog can be supported properly.
What Happens After the Workshop?
This workshop is the perfect introduction to the sport and a great way to see if mantrailing is something you and your dog will enjoy.
After completing the workshop, you’ll have the option to join our regular mantrailing classes, so you can continue building skills, confidence, and experience in a supportive and structured way.
